Service Description: GMES and Africa program is meant to address the interconnected environmental challenges that the countries in the Eastern Africa region are struggling with as a result of widespread conversion and degradation of wetlands that result in their reduced capacity to discharge their ecological and economic functions. Lack of adequate capacity to utilize EO data in various sectors of economy; and inadequate data and data sharing policy frustrates the region’s food security and natural resource management efforts. This productis meant to contribute to the pool of knowledge on wetlands in the region. Further analysis will help various stakeholders assess the trends and factors that are contributing to wetlands vulnerability. Best management practices will be recommended toensure a more sustainable management of natural resources.
